Former University of Vermont men's basketball standout Taylor Coppenrath is heading back to Europe.
The West Barnet native, who spent his first professional season in Greece, recently signed to play with Angelico Biella of the Italian Serie A, the country's top division, according to the league's Web site.
The 6-foot-9 Coppenrath averaged 10.4 points over 18 games for AEK Athens last season, but the team did not pick up Coppenrath's contract this spring.
Coppenrath played for the Indiana Pacers in the Orlando summer league, and even dined with Pacers president Larry Bird, but he'll play his basketball in Italy this winter.
Angelico finished eighth out of 18 teams in La Lega. The team features several American players, including former Louisville standouts Taquan Dean and Reece Gaines.
The team is located in Biella, which is about 50 miles northeast of Torino, home of the 2006 Winter Olympics, and 60 miles west-northwest of Milan.
