Diary
As we moved into December our team had some great
wins and some close losses as most teams do. My
mom had just visited me in November and was able
to watch a few games. While she was here, she also
celebrated my birthday with me. Again this year I
missed Thanksgiving at home. However, the other
Americans and I got together and had turkey,
potatoes, mac and cheese and of course, rolls.
Although it was not quite the same as I remember
with my family, it was definitely nice to
celebrate it.
My father came to visit in December during a few
good weeks for our team. We played great and beat
a really good team. We even won the next game in
overtime after being down by twenty points with
six minutes to go in regulation. I think my father
was glad to be a part of those big wins.
We were also able to do a few things that were not
basketball related. We decided one day to drive to
Lake Arona which is about 45 minutes west of Lake
Como which is the more famous lake. We drove
almost two hours and took a few pictures and ate
some early dinner at good old McDonalds!
Our next trip was up a mountain just outside of
Biella about 25 minutes away. There is a beautiful
sanctuary up there that has an incredible church.
We saw a variety of houses also up on the mountain
and some that were up even further than the
sanctuary. I could not imagine driving up there
everyday on my way home from work! The road is
very steep and winding so it seemed like a very
difficult trip for people to make. Along the road
there were people doing construction with huge
cranes and other equipment that I can only imagine
took someone a little less scared of heights than
me to operate. The trip was great overall and I
was glad to have found a place close enough for me
to bring other friends and guests to see it.
Well, that’s it for now I will try to have
another article up very soon!
